Our Learning

ANZAC Day
This term we have been learning about ANZAC day. We have been reading some books called : Lottie’s diary, The red poppy, and My granddad ‘s war. We have also been learning about Gallipoli,       a place were the ANZACS fought. 11410 ANZACS died at Gallipoli,22,776 were wounded.
It was a horrible, boiling, stinky place. They landed at Gallipoli by mistake, maybe someone jacked their ship, or maybe they ran out of fuel. They climbed up the cliffs, where the turks were waiting for them, they had no choice but to climb up to fight, the soldiers who survived were also in grave danger, the turks did not die so our troops were outnumbered, the fighting did not stop until 1916.
Gallipoli was a very horrible place.

  1. Hi Toby,

Your description of what happened at Gallipoli was really interesting. You also taught me a few facts as well. Perhaps one day you might visit Gallipoli and see where it all happened...I did!
