Statistics

For Maths this term Room 12 are learning about statistics. We had a discussion and found out that it means the collection, organisation and interpretation of data.
First we filled out a survey about ourselves. As a class we decided to collate data about our favourite colours. We did a tally sheet then we organised the data in a bar graph.
Our statements are below.
Enjoy:No one likes red or yellow
More people in Room 12 like blue
Ten people in Room 12 did not like blue . Two people in Room 12 like purple,

  1. Hi Room 12,

Nu just quickly glancing at your graph I can tell that blue is the most popular colour in your class. Why do you think that is? Do you think it is because both boys AND girls like it?

  2. I wonder how different the answers would be if you asked year 1 or 2 the same question. Do you think blue would be as popular?

  3. Hi Room 12.

We liked your statements about whether or not you liked a colour. We liked how you used a bar graph and you showed the numbers on the graph.

Well done on your graph. Keep it up.
